FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I get a complete custom aquarium set-up through Aquarius Aquarium?
A: The first step is to decide what kind of fish and other aquatic creatures you wish to keep. We design our life support systems around your particular selection of animals. For example, if you want to keep many beautiful fish in a planted, green environment with logs and river rocks, then a freshwater aquarium could be just what you’re looking for. If you want a few spectacularly colorful coral reef fish, then a saltwater tank with either live or decorative coral may fit the bill. Next, it helps if you have a rough idea of what kind of budget and space limitations you are working with.
Q: What if I don’t know the price of the various systems or fishes?
A: That’s ok. Just call or e-mail us and we’ll happily quote the prices of different sized aquarium tanks, life support systems and estimate the costs of fish, plants or corals.
Q: Does Aquarius Aquarium make the tank for me?
A: No, we order your tank from reputable aquarium manufacturers who give you a written warranty.
Q: How about building my aquarium into a wall? Do you do that?
A: Yes, we coordinate these kind of installations with licensed contractors. These are often the same contractors involved in larger remodeling projects, but may also be select contractors we have worked with in the past.
Q: Can I get all of my aquarium accessories and fish through Aquarius Aquarium?
A: Yes! At Aquarius Aquarium, we deliver only high-quality products and hand-selected fish. We also offer our clients, upon request, a two to four week quarantine service for fish to be sure they are fully acclimated to aquarium life and feeding well.
Q: How frequently will I need my aquarium serviced?
A: The frequency of our service visits varies from installation to installation depending upon many factors. The biggest variables are stocking levels and light. The more fish you have and the longer bright light – either from nearby windows or light bulbs – is illuminating the aquarium, the more often it may need to have its filter system, sides and decor cleaned. Some aquariums stay beautiful with once-a-month service visits, while others require weekly or even twice-weekly attention. Most aquariums fall somewhere in between these, and your tolerance for a slightly less-than-perfect appearance is definitely a factor as well. We can usually estimate what a proposed installation may require in terms of maintenance fairly accurately, but this is only an estimate and by no means an exact science.
Q: Why do you charge a fish transport (pick-up and delivery) fee when you’re already coming to service my aquarium anyway?
A: When fish are being transported, their time in a bag or a bucket must be minimized to ensure healthy arrival at their new destination. This necessitates breaking away from our normal maintenance route so the fish do not suffer in a hot or cold vehicle. This departure from our regular routine means more travel time for our service personnel and less time available to provide service to other clients. This is why we charge a fee for transporting all fish from one place to another.
Q: How often should my aquarium be serviced?
A: In order to maintain a healthy environment, most aquariums and their filter systems should be cleaned at least once-a-month. However, depending on the bio load (number of total fish and animals), the length of time the aquarium is exposed to light, or other outside factors, you may need more or less frequent service. Aquarius Aquarium, Inc. has many maintenance plans tailored to fit your needs.
